We read in Scriptures a lot about glorifying God. My reading today of Isaiah 49:3 gives us a new angle on what that means: “And He saith to me, `My servant Thou art, O Israel, In whom I beautify Myself.” (‘Young’s Literal Translation).

In other translations, “beautify” is translated “glorify”. In the New American Standard Bible, it reads: “He said to Me, “You are My Servant, Israel, In Whom I will show My glory.'”

What a beautiful idea: when we glorify God, we are beautifying Him. We are causing His beauty to be seen. His glorification and his magnification shows His beauty. I like that!

Just remember the next time you act in a godly manner, you are beautifying God. You are calling attention to His empowering in you and He is pleased.
