As I’ve been studying Isaiah for a while now, it’s been fun to see some recurring themes. One of them is when God says that He is going to act so that someone/a nation will know Him. I love the idea that everything God does is motivated with His desire for us and everyone to know Him. Wonder if we saw everything that happened to us, even running into traffic, as God’s signal: “know Me!’

Here are the verses I found about that in Isaiah:

Isaiah 19:21

Thus the LORD will make Himself known to Egypt, and the Egyptians will know the LORD in that day. They will even worship with sacrifice and offering, and will make a vow to the LORD and perform it.
Isaiah 49:23
” Kings will be your guardians,And their princesses your nurses They will bow down to you with their faces to the earth And lick the dust of your feet; And you will know that I am the LORD; Those who hopefully wait for Me will not be put to shame.
Isaiah 49:26
“I will feed your oppressors with their own flesh,And they will become drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine; And all flesh will know that I, the LORD, am your Savior And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.”
Isaiah 60:16
“You will also suck the milk of nations And suck the breast of kings; Then you will know that I, the LORD, am your Savior And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.

You’ll notice that God planned to do some pretty amazing and sometimes surprising, even radical things–things that could easily be misunderstood. But sometimes we stubborn people need something radical and surprising for us to turn our attention to Him. What surprising things has He done in your life to get your attention?
