I’m excited to make available in a raffle (see below) the new book by Carol Burton McLeod: No More Ordinary: Living the Life You Were Made For. Isn’t that a wonderful title? Made me want to read the book. And of course, I did and it inspired me.

Carol’s biblical insights and practical ideas help us if we’re:

  • dealing with the pain of circumstances
  • dealing with the shame of past choices and unfair events
  • wondering why I’m alive at this moment in history
  • determined not to waste one minute…one hour…or this day that God has given us
  • longing to wring joy out of the miracle that is an ordinary day.

Each chapter tells the story of a man or woman who defied their circumstances and lived an abundant life. Some of the people she talks about are well-known but she’s diligent to bring out interesting tidbits that we didn’t know before. For instance, did you know that Corrie ten Boom taught a Sunday School class for special needs children? I didn’t until Carol told me.

Besides the people profiles, Carol inspires and encourages us to trust God more through Scripture, personal stories, and inspiration. Here are Carol’s encouraging words: “This Heaven-guaranteed, extraordinary, too-good-to-be-true life starts the instant a sinner admits his or her need for a Savior. Life with a capital ‘L’ begins the moment that you make the miraculous decision to enter into a partnership with the Man whose very identity is known as life himself.” And Carol shows us how to continue bringing the Abundant Life into every day living.

Each chapter ends with sections titled:

“Prayer for Life”: a prayer
“Declaration for Life”: a declaration of truth
“Scripture for Life”: a verse or passage
“Words of Life”: a quote

Carol is a wonderful Bible teacher and shares encouraging and inspiring insights from the Bible. In her book, she is convinced and convinces us that God has gifted each of us so that God can use us for His glory. I’m sure you’re like me and wonder what does it really mean to live Jesus’ promise of the “abundant life” (John 10:10). Well, Carol takes away the mystery.
