There are times when our own words in prayer seem shallow. Other times, we just can’t focus enough to bring our concerns before the Lord. And sometimes, we just would enjoy using someone else’s prayers to bolster our own.
That’s when Marion Stroud’s new book, It’s Just You and Me, Lord, becomes a treasured collection of prayers. I love how this hard-cover book shares Marion’s prayers in eight different categories:
A Woman Within
A Woman and Marriage
A Woman and Her Children
A Woman and Her Friends
A Woman at Work
A Woman and her Family of Faith
A Woman and the Wider World
A Woman Growing Older
Marion offers heartfelt prayers to inspire and encourage us as women no matter where we are in life’s journey, as you can see from those eight areas of our lives. She addresses common issues through her practical prayers, the Scripture she includes, and the quotes by famous people. For instance, before her prayer about forgiveness entitled “Free Indeed,“ she includes the words of Lewis B. Smedes, “To forgive is to set the prisoner free, and then discover that the prisoner was you.” How thought provoking. And so is her prayer.
Marion Stroud lived in Malaysia as a child which gave her a heart for people from different nations. She works with Media Associates International to mentor and encourage writers in countries where little Christian literature is written or published. Marion loves to share with others both in the written word and as a speaker for events. She lives in England with her husband, a retired dentist.
