I believe we should resist regrets (it’s a form of worry), but I can’t help but sharing some things I do wish I’d done better in parenting. My purpose is, hopefully, by sharing this tidbit others will benefit.
The main spiritual thing I wished I’d done more, is say, “Let’s pray about that right now.”
- If my children have a concern, why not say, “Let’s pray about that right now.”
- If they tell me about someone being sick, why not say, “Let’s pray about that right now.”
- If they have something happy to share, why not say, “Let’s thank God right now.”
- If they are studying for a test, why not say, “Let’s pray about that right now.”
- If they physically hurt in some way, why not say, “Let pray about that right now.”
Why didn’t I? I don’t know. I knew I was praying–silently. Why I didn’t say it out-loud, I don’t know. Maybe I did it more than I remember, I hope so, but I don’t have a strong memory of it.
I hope this little reminder will inspire you to say more often, “Let’s pray about that right now.” And I hope I can remember this when I’m next with my grandson.
