My Prayer Requests for Week of Surgery (Jan. 18-21, 2022)
God has used Psalm 40:1-3 during other difficult and challenging times of my life and I again am reflecting upon them for His strength, peace and joy.
Psalm 40:1-3 (ESV)
I waited patiently for the Lord;
he inclined to me and heard my cry.
He drew me up from the pit of destruction,
out of the miry bog,
and set my feet upon a rock,
making my steps secure.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear,
and put their trust in the Lord.
I can’t tell you how much it means to me and Larry to know you care and will be praying for us for the several appointments and surgery I will have this week. I’m not going to get specific and graphic. The Lord knows the details.
Please pray for:
- primarily for God’s glory to be revealed in any way He desires. For courage for me to speak of Him as He directs.
- protection from any illness that could delay the surgery. Larry and I have been isolating already for over two weeks, but I’ll need to go into several medical buildings this week in order to have the preparatory procedures
- peace for me as I anticipate possible painful procedures
- least pain as possible during procedures and recovery from surgery
- God’s guidance for every person who performs all the procedures and the surgery. Dr. Kelly Carman is my surgeon.
- all cancer to be detected and removed
- quick recovery and wisdom as I make decisions about how often to get back into easy and then moderate exercise
- no side effects or complications
- testing of sentinel lymph node will reveal cancer has not spread. An initial testing during surgery will be done and then also a more thorough testing with results about a week later.
Here are the times of the procedures and surgery
- Tuesday morning, Jan. 18, 2022: a procedure and COVID test
- Thursday morning, Jan. 20, 2022: a procedure and then surgery/lumpectomy and removal/testing of sentinel lymph node. This is an outpatient surgery and at this point the anticipated release time is late afternoon.
Again, thank you so very, very much. Larry and I know your prayers are heard by our wonderful Lord and He always wisely responds.
One of my favorite quotes describing God is by Adam Clarke (1762-1832)
“[God is] the eternal, independent, and self-existent Being; the Being whose purposes and actions spring from himself, without foreign motive or influence; he who is absolute in dominion; the most pure, the most simple, the most spiritual of all essences; infinitely perfect; and eternally self-sufficient, needing nothing that he has made; illimitable in his immensity, inconceivable in his mode of existence, and indescribable in his essence; known fully only by himself, because infinite mind can only be fully comprehended by itself. In a word, a Being who, from his infinite wisdom, cannot err or be deceived, and from his infinite goodness, can do nothing but what is eternally just, and right, and kind.”
Knowing who God is is a bulwark for our faith and strength for every situation. Here are two questions for reflection.
Which of the attributes Adam Clarke describes is one of your favorites about God?
Can you think of a time a particular attribute was especially meaningful?
Which attribute strengthens your faith now in a current situation?
Thank you again. I love you!
Kathy
Covered in prayer sweet friend.
Thank you dear friend.
I’ve been praying for you,. The bullet points in your email are very helpful.
Thank you, Lisa, that comforts my heart.
Continuing to pray that He will keep you in His perfect peace as your mind is stayed on Him, because you trust in Him! Trust in the Lord forever for the Lord is an everlasting rock. (Is. 26:3-4) I am so grateful for the nearness and comfort of the Holy Spirit that lives in you & Larry!
Thank you so much, Missi. I’m reflecting on those powerful truths. We so appreciate your loving care.
Praying for these requests with love!
Thank you, Joanne. That means so much.
I’m on the team with you, Kathy! God is a fantastic coach — He will guide everyone involved. Victory is assured, whatever that looks like. All glory to Him!! And He will guide us in prayer, step by step, through all of this. Love you!
Thank you, Deb, I love your comment “whatever that looks like.” Surrendering brings such peace.
I’m pain free, only taking Ibuprofen and Tylenol. Took my second walk of the day a little bit ago.
I”m so relieved and grateful to the Lord I feel so good. Hope to get lymph node reports by mid-week.
Love you,
Kathy
Kathy, lifting you up continuously in prayer.
But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob,
And He who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.
For I am the Lord your God,
The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
